COVID-19 RESOURCES FOR HEALTH & WELLNESS PRIORITIES in schools
As RI schools continue to address COVID-related considerations, here are a number of helpful resources we’ve curated from some of our community partners and online

SNA COVID-19 Thought Starters on Reopening Schools The School Nutrition Association has prepared a helpful document offering guidance to food service operators (and other school administrators and staff tasked with preparing for school re-openings) on the myriad of operational and administrative considerations that must be addressed for school year 2020-21. PHYSICAL EDUCATION and PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The Playworks School Re-Opening Workbook The Playworks School Reopening Workbook is a free resource and workbook offering guidance and practical tools for infusing play and playfulness into re-opening our schools in this unprecedented time. The workbook is divided into five sections: Space, Ritual, Rules, Referees and Recess Games. The first four sections offer ideas, suggestions, and concrete activities to help frame approaches incorporating CDC and RIDOH guidance. Playworks: Return to School Recess Guidelines and Safe Return to Play Game Guide Children learn through play. The Recess Rocks RI team supports the value and critical benefits of recess, both physically and social-emotionally, now more than ever during the COVID-19 environment, including re-opening guidelines and strategies for scheduling, equipment, space and games. SHAPE America K-12 School Re-Entry Considerations: PE/Health & Physical Activity The National Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) has developed this comprehensive guide for schools with recommendations for physical education, health education, recess, and classroom-based physical activity in each of three models of learning. FitnessGram/The Cooper Insitute Resources The Cooper Institute has compiled (and continues to update) a list of free resources for physical education and physical activity for students, parents and teachers who are practicing social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic. |
