active indoor recess week

​An ACTIVE INDOOR RECESS is possible!
​
​Join us for a week of indoor recess games, tips, and tricks. Learn games and strategies during a free virtual Indoor Recess Workshop for RI public and charter elementary school staff on February 7, and/or join our daily indoor recess activities  to win prizes for your school!

P.S.  If it's warm enough for recess outside,
these daily activities work just as well outdoors!

IT'S EASY TO PARTICIPATE! ​
 1.  Sign up today to receive an email with games and resources for each daily activity! Any staff member can sign up.
  • School staff can attend the virtual Active Indoor Recess Training to kick off the week on Monday, February 7th (4:30-5:30pm)
​                     and/or
  • Classrooms can participate in 1 or all 5 days of Active Indoor Recess activities
  • Let us know which daily activities you participate in using this quick and easy form to be entered into the prize raffle - winners notified by Feb. 18, 2022​

2.  OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED: Join the Recess Rocks in RI Facebook group for daily activity updates, indoor recess games, and strategies!

3.  OPTIONAL: We would love to see your Active Indoor Recess!! Post photos/videos of your activities on social media with the tag #ActiveIndoorRecessRI - take photos from the back (or just legs!) if photo permissions are an issue

WHY PARTICIPATE?
  • Get kids to be ACTIVE during indoor recess to get the wiggles out and stimulate brain activity
  • Learn new games, strategies, tips & tricks for an organized active indoor recess
  • Be part of a statewide intiative to keep kids moving, even if recess is indoors during the winter months
  • Earn a training certificate for attending Monday's free one-hour Active Indoor Recess Training session

    • Half Hour Schoolwide Virtual Game Time with Coach Jessi (must schedule in advance) - Coach Jessi will provide a schoolwide virtual indoor recess for your school! All of your school’s classrooms can log on for a half-hour of fun and games, ending with a cool down activity. Your students all moving around and playing along? Priceless. 
    • Equipment Bag - Support student engagement at recess with an assortment of recess equipment, including foursquare balls, foam GatorSkin dodgeballs, jump ropes, cones, and more! Valued at $250
    • Keep Playing Subscription - Keep Playing is a digital subscription that provides weekly curated content, including games, SEL highlights, brain breaks, and more, to assist educators and families to bring play to every child’s day. Valued at $750
