PROGRAMS
Rhode Island Healthy Schools Coalition is the only statewide school wellness organization connecting the RI school community, providing direct support
for district school wellness work. RIHSC engages school communities, motivating and helping districts with wellness initiatives,
which ultimately address student health and education outcomes.

We encourage you to engage with us to support a happy, healthy Rhode Island student body!

HERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY:

  • Talk to others in your school or community to find like-minded people or people with a passion to make things better and get things done.
  • Find out about your district Wellness Committee (which all districts are required to have) and attend a meeting or join the committee.
  • Become familiar with your district Wellness Policy (another requirement for all districts) and look to see if it's being followed
  • Visit a school cafeteria for lunch or volunteer to host a nutrition event - kids love sampling new healthy foods!
  • Support a healthy fundraising event or a before/after school fitness program.
  • Be a model for children - eat healthy & move more!

Co-Director Karin Wetherill can help you get connected in your community.  Contact her at karin.wetherill@rihsc.org.
