WE ARE COMMITTED TO MAKING ALL RI SCHOOLS
HEALTHY PLACES FOR CHILDREN TO LEARN, grow and thrive.

We do this by building a community of partner organizations to support
school wellness efforts.  Our communications, outreach and technical assistance
inform and help school stakeholders through the use of resources and tools,
workshops and programs, funding opportunities and best practices.

schools

Schools play a critical role in promoting healthy dietary and physical activity behaviors in children and adolescents that will help establish life-long habits.  And scientific research continues to demonstrate a strong positive correlation between health and learning.

healthy eating

Eating healthy improves mood,
energy and cognition and
has been proven
to reduce school absenteeism
and tardiness.

physical activity

Being active improves strength and endurance, reduces anxiety and
stress, increases self-esteem, and
has been proven to improve attentiveness, concentration and memory in the classroom.

The science is well established:  Kids who are better nourished and physically active perform better in school.
Schools need broad support to prioritize the value of improved nutrition and physical activity.
They need assitance to implement strong practices and policies.
RIHSC is ready and able to help!
